Yes - There are Palm Trees in Oakland.

We recently enjoyed a Friday night gallery walk in Oakland and came across the fresh and bold work by Justin Olerud. This particular piece, Palm Trees in Oakland caught my eye. The bold blue tones and simple shape of the palm tree gave a playful and evolved look to such a pedestrian icon. It has retro LA sensibility with new age twist. And his figurative work is stunning, provocative, inspired, a tad risky and classic "take a second look" draw. They offer a narrative in color and shape and somehow all come together into a figure.
Don't miss this emerging talent in the growing Oakland/Temescal art scene.
